Project Based Learning
In Project Based Learning, teachers make learning come alive for students. Students work on a project over an extended period of time – from a week up to a semester – that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. Till date I have designed and executed 3 Project Based Learning interventions in 10 schools - Kitchen Garden, 5 Day Water Challenge and 1 Month Zero Plastic Waste School Challenge

Kitchen Garden
As an intervention under promoting Project Based Learning in Government Schools in Jhunjhunu, Kitchen Gardens were successfully established in schools. In all the schools kitchen gardens were established with the help of students and teachers who worked in collaboration as can be seen in the pictures. Teachers have been using these Kitchen Gardens to impart STEAM Education in schools. Science - Germination, Photosynthesis, Nutrition and Balanced Diet; Technology - Low water consumption irrigation systems; Engineering - Intercropping, crop hybridization; Arts - Designing, Efficient land use; Maths - Area, Volume of Fertilizer used. The best part was learning from the students as the students come from agricultural backgrounds they played the role of experts here.
1 Month Zero Plastic Waste School Challenge
This PBL was designed around water saving & management as Jhunjhunu is a district in Rajasthan, India that suffers from shortage of water. This challenge is planned to spread understanding and observe water-based challenges faced by the community and to specify the best exercises and productive water-saving tips for the community. A lot of activities were conducted as a part of the PBL, interviewing community members around water saving tips, sticking posters to create awareness and a conducting water audit in schools, to name a few.
